skrillex at warrior's dance.!?!? 1 year ago #62970

What do you guy's think about it? I think its alright I mean in the line up for the zurich openair festival skrillex said "I've been deep into electronic music my entire life. The first records I ever owned were 'fat of the land' by the prodigy" raved skrillex. after reading this I thought this guy is pretty cool to say that. what do u think about the whole thing?

well used to hate old skool dubstep, but it has evolved massively and this dude seems to be on the right track, I will be glad to see him as support at wdf

IMO, Dubstep is evolving to noisy step, and artists are forgetting the dub part.

Well if you want to strip it down to it's components it began with just bass lines and shitty lazy musically defective layers. Now less long bass more structure.

plus it is commercial now, everyone is doing dubstep

I like the dubstep from around 2008 and i still like some tracks that are being made like emalkay the line. Artists like Rusko caspa, the others are good to listen, may i suggest u fabricelive 37.
I'm not so sure dubstep going mainstream is a good thing.

Skrillex is not one of my favorites even though I feel he is a talented producer. He'll have some good sounds that are ruined by the use of bad vocal samples or parts that are just too noisy. But you know what, he has turned several people onto the dance music scene so good for that. And he did win a Grammy last year for the dance category which was much better than the previous year when crazy ass Lady Gaga won. So when you bring someone like this to your festival as support that speaks volumes about the main act.

I've seen him live before and, from where I was, he brought the vibe.

He had one half-decent idea, and has made half a zillion tunes from that. He won't draw me to WDF.

That was probably the worse news ever. Skrillex is the cancer that killed electronic music, he brought douchebag kids to the scene, and he does nothing constructive for it. He's like every other Lil Wayne and the majority of faggots out there, but his music is no noisy and shit, that people who are into mainstream music can't stand his work. And his 'bass' would make the gaddamn bats go crazy.

I'm not sure whether I like this news or not. I mean, I don't hate Skrillex or his music too much, but some his new fans....
I don't think it'll be too much of a bad thing, but I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Love Skrillex.

Been listening to his tunes before he blew up and have tons of respect for what he does. People say he jumped on the dubstep bandwagon, but actually he is the one that created this whole buzz you hear now. He created this new sound that takes the good from dub and the good from electro and made some crazy stuff. He's a top producer and one of the nicest, most humble guys you can meet. And I think it's awesome that he has come full circle since having FOTL as one of his first albums to actually opening for The Prodigy. How fuckin cool is that?

He has played like 320 shows last year because he loves what he does and got to where he is now because of the devotion to his music and fans. He won a grammy award for songs he created in his bedroom on a laptop and a blown monitor speaker.

People who talk shit are either jealous or just don't get what he does. He's turned down tv appearances and movie placement's because he doesn't want to get over-exposed, and I give him props for that.

The fact that The Prodigy can respect him enough to ask him to play with them at WDF is testament enough to his success. Next time you see Skrillex maybe you should thank him for getting more people into the electronic scene, which will only help The Prodigy sell more records.

Geystep (aka dubstep) and nu metal are the worst kinds of music. Geystep kill d'n'b and other electronic stuff, like what I heard at new album Infected Mushroom where kill psytrance.
When Skillex made material with Korn I know it will be totally crap. Listened it for sure to know I thought right and after half minut turned off those farts.

I have no idea what you just said... but in response to the Korn / Skrillex colab... Korn singer Johnathan Davis heard the Skrillex EP and was blown away as many people were. So he made some calls, and got Skrillex (who was a Korn fan back in the day as most people were) to fly down to the studio to make a few tracks. It was a case of Korn jumping on the Skrillex bandwagon, nothing more, nothing less.
