TOPIC: Londoners/places to go in london

Londoners/places to go in london 11 months, 1 week ago #63450

Hello ppl, despite being in london for more than a year I still feel fairly new, I never really managed to go out and all my friends are into hiphop/R&B/rap etc which i really don't like. There must be some clubs in london where they play more ... eh... "prodigy" style sort of music (shall we say electronica?) but I'm at a loss.

The problem is that i'm not really into DJs and stuff like that so i have no idea who/where is good/bad. plus, i'm usually discouraged to going anywhere as nobody wants to come with me so i wouldn't really know.
you got any suggestion?
I live very close to Ministry of Sound but i don't like it very much...

Also here for more than a year, clubs are good with good people, but music is all shit. I've tried all the ones in central (the one, penthouse etc) and they all had shitty DJ's

Hey,
Ok - Used to be a London boy (not now tho.)
It ain't that good for 'prodigy type music' nowadays, since the end shut down. But, try the free/squat parties, more techno/d+b but the same vibe (kinda, way more aggro if you say the wrong thing;-))
Have a crack at squatjuice (online) see how you get on.

If you fancy getting out of London take a trip to Brighton, plenty of good nights there.. Concorde2 / Digital etc.. Prodigy played at Digital (Zap club) back in theyre music for the jilted generation era.. Saw Chase & Status there too before they went mainstream.. All good..

brixton is lively, dogstar always has something on and was always hassle free when I've been. They did the fridge up and now its the electric, saw carl cox there recently he was the dogs and the sound system kicks too. Check it out its pretty big and decent crowd too.

What would be a great would be if someone put on a prodigy (and related music) night on a monthly basis and then fans can meet up for a good drink and some serious dancing!

Kinda, a convention is more of a one off. I was thinking more of a regular monthly club night

i guess if there was enough interest, a club could put together some sort of prodigy tribute night, playing both prodigy songs and stuff with a similar vibe. maybe when the new album is out, they could do a night when they play the latest songs back to the beginnings.. guess they could invite different dj etc..

anyway thanks to all those who answered! = ]
