Ah, being Irish; 99% of the humour is making fun oneself and one's own culture.
Funny at first, then a little embarrasing, but after so many years, it's now just sad to watch.

part of that is making fun of cultural stereotypes, at least that how i receive it

but now that you mention it lots of irish comedians or comedians focusing on the irish recycle the same stuff more or less and it does get boring
