TOPIC: Different webrowsers

Different webrowsers 7 years, 1 month ago #526

There are many different web-browser to use, like internet explorer (which many of us i believe have abandoned), mozilla firefox, opera, netscape. Which of them would you refer as the best one, most easier to use, favorite etc?

I started to use mozilla after internet explorer and it was considerably better, however it loaded much longer than int. explorer. Now i just started to use Opera, which looks like really interesting and handy. For example it loads up really quick, you don't have to open a new window to browse another website, but the images on Opera load a lot longer than they loaded on mozilla. One more thing, i installed the macromedia flashplayer needed to view the official site on mozilla and now on Opera i have to to the same thing again, although i have it installed.

Course, all these problems can be my fault as my computer skills are rather average, but anyways...

What are your views on different webbrowsers?

Firefox for me - opera has become really appealing now it's free but it just isn't as capable as the Mozilla offering. IE is IE - if it's great or not it's still going to be hated. And as long as it's propping up ActiveX, it's a security arsehole.

It took a long time to convert me, but I am now a hardened Firefox user. Even got a matching theme for my Thunderbird (Black Japan - check it out, very very nice )

How I ever lived without tabs I have no clue! Same thing applies in Trillian - it might not be the prettiest looking chat client but seen as I have everything in one place and a clutter-free screen I adore it!

To be honest, i quit using IE cause it was constantly logging me out of this forum after browsing it for a few minutes. It really pissed me off and i downloaded mozilla and that fixed the problem.

IE loads quicker, because most of its gui loads with the windows shell. Theres an extension to firefox (called fasterfox if i remember correctly) wich makes firefox capable of doing the same. I cant be bothered though. Its just a matter of 1-2 seconds, and its only noteable slower the first time after a fresh boot, when it has to load firefox to the ram.

Im using Firefox, and have done it for quite a long time (mozilla suite wasnt my thing really). I have tried opera, and it was okay, but i went back to firefox because of the powerful extensions (like adblock, flashget, and bugmenot). Theres even extensions that makes many of operas features available in firefox, ie. rendering a website with the IE engine.

Firefox can be tweaked to be faster changing the configuration, so that doesnt matter. And Firefox is the best, it has a massive following so they must have done something right, i love it, and so should you. For those who cant be bothered to browse through the firefox webpage, here's an exact link:

Firefox on default config here.
Loads webpages around twice as fast as Internet Exploder, has a built in antipop up that actually stops pop ups, is generally easier to the eye, has a search function that is the handiest tool in webbrowsing history (if you exclude mud-wrestling lesbian porn from the tool category), is great with google, bookmarks, managing extensions, cookies, and downloads.
FF shags IE to a pulp and has the balls to light a fag afterwards (no pun intended).

On Microsoft Windows, I mainly use Mozilla Firefox 1.5.0.1, but occasionally I have to visit web sites which truly only support Microsoft Internet Explorer, so then I use Microsoft Internet Explorer 7 Beta 2.

Obvious, Safari is just the best browser. Like you could read also on the site: PC is a dirty word, everyone get a mac. NOW. A real Prodigy fan without a mac. Does it exist. By the way Microsoft sucks.

Mac, or PC: In the words of Keith from The Prodigy: PC is a dirty word.

Let me answer it:

PC = more compatibility, better for gaming
Mac = better for art, music, video editing overal.

I think they both kind of equal out but it depends really what your using it for. Sometimes I wish I had a Mac again (last one I had was a performa 400 )... but then again I like Windows being able to access the majority of stuff on the internet being the most popular OS.
