TOPIC: start the revolution

start the revolution 7 years, 1 month ago #3042

ive posted this in various places and i want other people to aswell, spread the word, its time for a change.

right, well fuck knows where to put this, but bollocks to it, more people will see it here. i am one of alot of people who make beats, and most of what i hear sounds the bollocks, and nobody but us hears it. and thats shit, and even when people do hear it, most dont do ewt but download it and thats the end of it. its time to fuck indie and rock and whatever and bring our music out of the underground, just bombard the record labels with demos, good or bad, bollocks to them all, they will eventually fuckin cave in, if not, at least we tried. we need to bring the beats back to the charts before it dies and liven it up, fuck house, fuck indie, fuck goth, fuck pop wank shite, fuck novelty and fuck anyone who says dance is easy and its boring. i wanna know whos in for this, get as many names as possible in here, no bullshit, no-one taking the piss, u dont like it? fuck off then, nobody wants your opinion, u like it, fair play to u, leave ur comments and let me know what you think, u know any labels? post em, address, email, whatever, independant or big or whatever, who cares, as long as they actually listen to the demos, what do we have to loose? i really fuckin hope this happens, because the british music scene is dying on its arse and something needs to be done by the underground to save it. come on people!

fucking nice one

Well said that man!

Most of the really amazing stuff that I've heard recently has been un-signed and most obviously not getting the credit that it deserves. I listened to Radio 1 recently (the only time I can bear to listen to it... 1am) and some of the un-signed dnb experiments and other things are crazy. They could easily beat the shit on the charts and a lot of signed stuff in the current market.

Rant over from me...
For now.

True, the music scene all over the world is going downhill in my opinion.

I'm not fussed - it might get moved if Admin's around. It's a pretty important point though not just some random crap in the wrong section.

I think what your saying is interesting, and the idea of bringing together a lot of people to try and change things is awesome, i would definately be in.

I am not however down with criticising other forms of music, i try and take what i can from most types of music. But yea the idea is good and i am interested in seeing it happen.

I have also been looking into starting a record label, even though i dont have much financial backing, but it is something i am looking to follow.

hey, i aint really makin much of a slaggin contest between other music, i just think too many people are jumping on the indie bandwagon, and are too busy labeling dance as boring and unintelligent, when its the exact opposite. i just think that us (the dance underground) need to make a stand to get seen again, u know what i mean? this is a wicked response too by the way, thanks people so far!

well, as long as there are "products" like britney spears (ok, she is outdated u tell me another then) or automated "dance" music machines that doesnt need much of a brain to do music with, and most of the ppl buying that stuff, the record labels will stick with it to make the money they want. Of course thats only one of many reasons, but as Richard D. James describes the e music as intelligent technoelectronic, I would say that most of the buyers of music today just want to listen to stupid music (doesnt mean they are, dont get me wrong here), so thats that. I still hope that this whole situation will change again like it was 10 years back

I've recently started producing my own Drum and Bass . I managed to get a copy of Reason 3.0 of ebay for ВЈ10 , its easy for anyone these days to start making Beats relatively cheaply, anyone reading this ,if you got a PC or Lap top try it out. It might take you 1 month to write a belting track , it might take you 10 years to make a shit track but if you don't try you never know. I,,ve got a few tracks down now ready for a final mix and loads of tracks sitting on my hard drive which are potentials . Let the Beats begin!

When I started getting into music seriously (listening not creating) in 1992, I used to admire all those artists etc pushing out there stuff on white label etc trying to get noticed. I used to tune in to pirate radio as this was the best place to hear the latest white label releases. I remember at one stage really wanting to get involved and have a go myself. I remember actually writing to XL at Alma Road for advice. A silly idea I guess but hey I would try anything to get the knowledge. I wanted it so bad that I didn't want it for the money or the fame, just to have the abilty to create something which made people go crazy at raves etc. That's what is missing these days, too many of the hyped up artists getting into it for the buck, no desire, or at least not as much as when the scene took off. Bring back illegal raves etc even if it's for a new genre of music. The dance scene is dying, if it's not completely dead already.

Maybe Liam should open a school of music

the dance scene is dying yes, therefore, WE need to ressurect it, we, the underground are the next big thing, so its time now more than ever to be heard because nevermind dance, music is dying on is arse, and the dance scene needs to inject some venom into the music scene in general!

technolgy..ie. downloads are gonna destroy it further. I've mentioned this before in the death of the cd thread. People are all to quick these days to download illegally than pay for music. The passion has gone from the listener too. That's why I concentrated on "dance" music as this was the example which applied to me the most. In the rave era etc. If I liked a track I went out and bought it, also the scene itself was advertising the music itself without the pumped up hype.

The prodigy have managed to achieve something which relates to your statements, they have introduced a lot of new listeners to them that never knew they existed and I have spoken to a few at live gigs and watched them go off their heads when The prodigy perform.

Dance music isn't dead, or dying. People here have stated their love for the genre, and im sure you are not alone.

Just because this genre isn't currently playing a large role in commercial music at the moment doesn't mean it is dead. There is still qualoty music off all kinds becoming available all the time.

The commercial face of dance music may not be as visible at the moment, but the music as an art form is very much alive.
