I agree with you. The music is good but then in some songs like that of American group Far East Movement and especially in "Like A G6" uses a synth that reminds me of a bad mid-80s pop song. It's a guilty pleasure to listen to it though. Not all modern popular music is bad even if taste is subjective, you just have to find the better folks somewhere.

Well everybody seems to be ignoring the actual point of topic so excuse me for my input. I'd image he'd be listening to a taste of solid dubstep, more rock & blues like Dead Weather, The Black Keys, some stuff like Crystal Castles, Holy Fuck, Flying Lotus, Roots Manuva, Breakage, Muse, Major Lazer, M.I.A.

I agree with you that if Liam Howlett was 18 now, then the music he will be listening to and making would be different. It's not a matter of the end of the world why his music is different but a matter of the times.

I doubt that since if Liam Howlett were 18 now, he wouldn't know anything about her and logically wouldn't be that into her. When Liam Howlett was 18 or so, remember his old girlfriend Angela Potter. He mentioned that lass a bit in the press. So if Liam were 18 now, he'd date Angela. As for Natalie, she'd go on as a single mum content with her daughter.
