True that darkmatter... this kind of deep meaning to Prodigy "lyrics" (read: samples) is what starts the kind of flack that SMBU recieved. Now, tracks with actual song structure, verses and choruses... sure, analyze all you want. But "I got the poison, I got the remedy" repeated over and over... *sigh*

Off subject.....whats with Liams hatred of that tune??
Yeah No Good REALLY is commercial..especially when compared to that underground classic Firestarter.

*sigh* is right

It is commercial, but is it maked to be commercial. I always find commercial such a negative way to call music, i only call music commercial when i dislike it. And no good is a great song, and many people think that, it was a commercial succes, but is it therefore a commercial song. I doubt that

calling something commercial doesn`t mean that is negative ! it`s rather "most popular" , people recognize that tune. MO

Jesus.. let`s face it - prodigy is ALL about music, NOT lyrics, they`re just nice add-in to the tunes itself.
And NO GOOD IS a commercial track - it was made tobe the single-hit from the "Music for the jilted generation" and it was, adn it`s still most recognisabled (??) song from that LP.

-=Loving PRODIGY since 1993=-

One reason why I listen to techno/dance music is that its all about the beat and rhythm. Plus it gives me energy and adrendaline to do anything I want.

I think its hard to actually mix lyrics and techno together, thats why most people dont do it. And when they do, its not 20 lines, its just a few lines.

take Serial Thrilla for example

damage destructa
crowd disrupta
mainliner, everytimer

Thats all you need in a prodigy song. If they would have added anything more, it probably wouldnt have been as good as it normally is.

Samples are just put in, as we stated before, because they sound good with the music. Like Wind it Up, that sounds perfect in that song.

I respect the prodigy because of the lyrics they do write, like Breathe, Firestarter, Serial Thrilla, etc etc. They all have some kind of meaning, but why worry about it? Its about the music!

Songs that are full of lyrics, like Deisel Power and Get Up Get Off, are nice too, but if you notice, the beat is repeating over and over again. That's going back to hip-hop/rap, where as its the same beat over and over again.

o well, just my 2 cents on the topic

Nice one, Zumo.
But it does get you wound up when you're trying to sing along...
Me and a friend were debating about the Smack My Bitch Up lyrics when we were on the way to Brixton to see them...
She was convinced it was "Change my picture, Smack my bitch up", when I think its "Change my pitch up, Smack my bitch up."
Anyone agree?

Check out Ultramagnetic MC's and find a track called "give the drummer some" Here you will find the original verse un time stretched in the normal pitch, it goes "switch up, change my pitch up, smack my bitch up , like a pimp, If you listen to Dirtchamber sessions vol 1 its on there too. Funny you should say about "change my picture" though. My aunty had to tell my 8 year old God son that it was indeed "Change my picture, Smack my picture" because he was singing it everywhere and she didn't wany him saying any obscenities at his age.
