TOPIC: Solo projects

Solo projects 6 years, 9 months ago #7939

Thought to start a topic about the solo projects Prodigy members have started or had been envolved to, so start voting!

I personally voted for Flint, cause i just love Device #1 so much, it's a pity the album didn't got released and they split up. Sure would love to hear more of their stuff. CBF's Tequila Punk Bitch and the mix for Godskicthen are alright, allthough i think all that rap stuff is really not for Keith, he should do Flint again, but CBF has some nice beats and wouldn't mind hearing from them again.

Just a week ago i bought myself a copy of Hell's Kitchen and i must say i'm not really impressed or anything, but there are some good tracks on it. Don't know about Fallen Angel though.

I have heard a few tracks by Flightcrank and that's it, so no opinion about that one really and heard a track by Hyper and it was quite alright in my humble opinion. Def would like to hear some more.

So what are your thoughts?

I liked Leeroy Thornhill's early solo projects as well as his work under the Flightcrank alias. Although very different compared to The Prodigy, it sounded good. His work currently in Hyper is good too, but I prefer his older work.

Hell's Kitchen was a very good album by Maxim. Tracks such as My Web and Scheming, which both featured production work from Liam Howlett, are great tracks. Liam Howlett should have continued to produce some of Maxim's tracks, as I liked Fallen Angel less than I did Hell's Kitchen.

Flint was good, although the music did get boring after listening to it a lot. As for Clever Brains Fryin', their style was different compared to Flint. I prefer Flint, but must admit that I have never seen Clever Brains Fryin' live and only know two of their tracks, so it's hard to judge.

Of these three, I would say that I like the solo work of Maxim best, but it's a hard choice. I'm missing The Dirtchamber Sessions Volume One by Liam Howlett a bit in the list. That would have been my number one choice. It's a great mix of the music I grew up with.

I picked Maxim purely for Hell's Kitchen too. Its a masterpiece.
Twas a tough choice though ..cos i truly love Flightcrank- Beyond all reasonable doubt too.

Don't agree with this though. Liam's work on hell's kitchen was the weakest stuff on the album imo. His vocal mixing in my web was ace....but scheming is not my cup of tea. It throws the whole album off balance.

Well, i thought about that, but the tracks on Dirtchamber aren't really a production of Howlett (except a bit from Poison, SMBU and Molotov Bitch and those are by the band not solo). I could add it, but the 'edit' feature lets me only change the text, not add the options.

... which is a good thing, otherwise you could tamper with the outcome of a poll But you are right, as it's a DJ mix album, it's not really a solo production.

I liked the Leeroy stuff the best, heard quite a lot of the Maxim solo tracks but I never really got into them

They`re all so different really so it`s quite hard for me to vote.
Maxim`s stuff was cool and at the moment I`m really into the Hyper sound. Flinty`s stuff was good an`all,..... um.... I s`pose for the most material out there I`ll vote Maxim.

I would have to say Maxim's first album Hell's Kitchen, it had some good tracks on it... Fallen Angel was.... shit tbh, it had like 1 or 2 good tracks but it was all very the same and just boring...

What about 'Victory Pill'? (Ex-guitarist (Davis) and live drummer (Pepper))

My votes with them...

If not them, then 'Hyper'. Maxim's debut was really weak.

PS: Hello everyone this is my first post here.
