Man, I felt so much about this album. Basically, when it came out, I was literally the happiest man. However, my happiness went down when I listened to the whole product. I expected something dark, fast, edgy, blablabla. The guys delivered Experience 2, with guitars and shit synths. no, these are not Pendu-synths, the Prodigy were is their glory days when Pendulum were spinning their prince albert in the dust. However, there are so many gay melodies (yes, I meant that) throughout this new album, that I could help it to call IMD "j-pop". I am sorry, never again. Because, when I heard the guys playing it live, it was MY PRODIGY, the Prodigy that made me happy.

So if you're still reading... What truly disappointed me about this album is not their sound, it's Prodigy sound (although I expected something more powerful and more bass), but it was the album itself. So many radio-friendly short gay songs. I don't know how many people think the same as I do, but IMD is everything the guys standed against in '94. It's mainstream, radio-friendly music. They deleted A WHOLE FUCKING ALBUM because they give it a good thought and came to the conclusion that it didn't fit their discography. Five years later, they just throw this at us and expected us to consume it, without giving that many fucks, and we did. Radio-friendly and teen-pleasing gay songs and phrases (all my warriors???) was not the Prodigy I knew. I don't think I'll come back to Invaders very soon, but I acknowledge it, because my opinion is not fact, it makes me truly happy that the guys feel great, they are in shape and they dominate.

TL'DR: I didn't like it as much as I liked their other albums, but I got used to it and I respect and aknowledge it as a Prodigy release.

So i can agree with you that in some way it is expirience 2 yeah, IMD has that vibe. Also that they neglected everything what the prodigy and their music represented back in the 90's, ok maybe yeah, but you can't jugde them for that, i mean times are changing and they can't fight for the same cause all the time.
But gay-ish songs, melodies and phrases(ok except "all my warriors" yeah that's kinda gay when you think about it but nvm).I don't know man, this album can be anything radio material, bad, not the prodigy sound but gay c'mon man let's be real. We are talking about the prodigy over here not Lionel Richie. I can understand if you don't like the album and imo that's ok everyone has it's own opinion, but gay... So, what i'm trying to say is that every new prodigy album is not the prodigy we remember. Every new album kinda has it's own backround ,a new story behind it. Hey, but we all have our own opinions.
And just a quick question, you mentioned that they deleted a whole album because it didn't fit their discgography, were you talking about AONO, because i think that aono is not deleted from their discography but it's more acknowledged as liam's solo album rather than a prodigy album, but if you're not talking about aono, what album are you talking about???

Pendulum can't say shit about the Prodigy considering their most popular work is the Voodoo People remix and in my opinion, the only decent track on their last album was Immunize.
Take away the VP remix and where would they be now? Popular, but nowhere near as much, it was a significant launch pad for them...
Anyways, back on topic, IMD era was good

interesting point where someone says its how the original should have sounded. certainly i'd rate the noisia remix as better than the original

as for the invaders period, well, better than AONO but not liam in top gear. production just isnt good enough and still too many limp punk songs that are neither rock enough for punk fans or tuff enough for beats fans

if i have a hope for the next album i'd ask for a continuation of the Invaders and Thunder direction, steering clear of the over ravey elements. the track that most gets me going is actually Omen Reprise, which almost hints at a film score musicality, similar to Jilted. and thats what i want i guess, Jilted v2

Oh and definitely the live/behind the scenes are awesome and hope they continue that path.
Besides Electronic Punks, we never really had any incite into the band like what Duggers has done for us.
So respect to that.

Lol, they were obviously drunk but I'm glad the dude from Noisia spoke his mind (I think it's Martijn). Big fan of them.

Also that chubby guy was El Hornet from Pendulum, right? And random guy with drink at the end was Sub Focus. It's like a who's who of Prodigy fans that made it big.

listening to the omen remix makes me appreciate its a big effort artistically i prefer it, different impact, not as hard hitting, omen was a cash cow, I think all the guys would admit it to a certain extent, and well done, capture the market after all the years of gigging, hard work pays off. The prodigy are not omen, they are so much more. Bring me beat 55 anytime over omen.
As for dubstep, it's created some interesting stuff, don't like much, but the thunder dubstep was disappointing live, please play the original, I think it's a banger, possibly the best track on invaders for me

Sorry for the late answer. I guess you're right, every album has it's own background and story, but I was a little frustrated with this one, those happy synths were something I expected the least after FOTL and especially AONO. The deleted album I was talking about is the one supposed to feature 'Nuclear', 'Trigger', 'Little Goblin'. 'No Souvenirs', etc, which eventually turned into AONO. They deleted that because they fought it's FOTL2 and it's mainstream shit, right? (sorry if I'm wrong)
The negative view I had on IMD is not because the music itself, but more because of the musical context in which they released it. As I said, I respect it as a Prodigy release I own a copy and all that, but compare it to any of the above mentioned tracks that didn't make it on any album. They sounded more like a modern Prodigy, at least in my opinion. Sorry if i offended you.

When you are out of space, you must break & enter...walking through mindfields and following medusas path...then the warriors should dance and invaders will die.

Re: Invaders must die review!!! 1 year, 7 months ago #59480

dubstep is music for music producers to have a little fun with. you make a tune at 140/170 bpm and you have no time to play with your sounds, to create interesting stuff. at half tempo you can experiment, chop and let the sounds do their thing

when dubstep is good, it can be amazing - if you love dirty synths and clever programming

when its bad, it can be wank

Like every other kind of music.... Genre names are pretty meaningless these days anyway.
