TOPIC: Did he sample the film Cocoon?

Did he sample the film Cocoon? 1 year, 11 months ago #57815

Last night i watched Cocoon...a 1985 film directed by Ron Howard

about 1/3 into the film..when they are getting into the water...
i heard a melody that I am 99% sure howlett sampled and used in the intro
to The Heat (the energy).... its the surreal sounding arpeggio melody during the long spacey intro to the song.

can anyone confirm? never saw that one spotted before

which intro of The Heat? More Music For The Jilted Generation split or original 1994 splitted tracks? Because XL recordings splitted 2 different ways MFTJG In MORE MFTJGthe end of Speedway is at The Heat track.

as far as i know.... having the long spacey bit at the end of Speedway was a mistake.
it should always have been at the intro to heat the energy.

that bit

listen to the first few seconds of that and tell me thats not the heat the energy?

think i can claim that sample as a genuine find of my own. although it may not be the sample

Definitely very similar but I don't think it is.

theres been talk on here before about this, dunno but does sound really similar maybe it is, if liam was able to turn that bit he sampled from bulls on parade and drastically change it for smack my bitch up then it wouldn't suprise me.

if he did sample he just speeded it up.

I'd put money on it. Sampled it, looped it, fucked it, ate it.
Sounds too similiar, and like Mr Proxi said, we've seen the transformations Liam's done with samples before...this one is a very small hop in comparison to the leaps done with Bulls On Parade

Possibly could have been tweaked a bit, so you're probably right. It is very similar sounding.

i must have seen it on brainkiller.

edit: i remember, there was a thread on either this site or brainkiller which was titled something like 'spotted samples' and one post was of the cocoon soundtrack, im sure of it.

@ proxi: You do realise the date when this question is first from?

There is nothing on BK or here before Tomás asked, true story.

Re: Did he sample the film Cocoon? 1 year, 3 months ago #61670

yeah i do realize the date of when this was posted i can read. but there was a thread where people talked about possible sample sources, for example there were people talking about the x files sound effect from the episode deep throat that was used in skylined and other sources, and people also mentioned cocoon.....true story
.
but anyway why have you jumped on what i said? i wasnt being a troll or trying to say that the guys thread was pointless, all i was saying was that in a thread i read some time ago {not this one} i saw something about cocoon sampled being used in a track.

Re: Did he sample the film Cocoon? 1 year, 3 months ago #61671

I was only asking as some people don't check the dates. Sorry dude.

You may well be right about it being mentioned before, I just find it quite strange that there is no record on here or Brainkiller or anywhere else on the whole world wide web that I can find.

You are right man, i've read somewhere a discussion about this specific sample. But don't fight about it guys.
Imo, Liam didn't sample it but he somehow remaked it(?)
