Jilted is one of the best pieces of music ever written.
After Jilted, things started to get a bit minimal, but that’s fine.
Although I wouldn’t dig FOTL as much as the first two, I still love it - especially SMBU.
Three top albums.
Quite dislike AONO, but I have excused it, as all bands seem to have a dodgy 'wake up' period, don't they?
To their credit, though, AONO has a few banging beats (Spitfire’s the business).
With all four albums, I've always been happy of the fact that, with nearly any track, you can just turn it up and it'll probably dwarf any other track in the vicinity - wherever it’s played.
Never fails.
Invaders Must Die, however, that's another story...
It's limp.
Both the percussion and melodies are too minimal, too easy, too unoriginal, too shallow.
I mean, what's going on here with the pussy electro snare drum, I thought Liam was a fan of a real-sounding kit?
No heavy rides or cymbal crashes either?
It reminds me of the new Pendulum stuff, in fact, who have fallen so far from the tree that they now sound more akin to a testosterone-fuelled Cher tribute band than a hard-hitting dance act.
IMD has energy, alright - I’ve no doubt that I’ll enjoy it when it's cranked up in the car, or something.
But that’s as far as I think I’ll go, I’ll just ‘like it’.
I won’t ‘love it’ like I do other tracks.
This is about where I stand. I agree with others that it is growing on me a bit, but I can't help but think I'm just excusing it more, rather than growing to like it.
Then it hit me: It's the f*cking LEAD! That HORRIBLE HORRIBLE lead synth! It's way to clean and bright for it to be coming from a piece of music Liam put his name on...if you took that away, the track would be 10 times as good, even with the simplistic beat.
I thought perhaps it was maybe a lure, they're trying to steal back fans who hear stuff like the new Pendulum and are thinking "Man this is great!"
They have this one track to attract the fans of the bullsh*t that is all over the dance music market today and then when the album sells, the good stuff gets exposed to the masses!
But then, The Prodigy would be the invaders, and they definitely shoudn't die!
SO WHAT THE F*CK IS GOING ON HERE?

interesting view i read that maybe the track is a big fuck off to pendulum, you know with them rippin off prodigy's song and the track being called invaders must die, maybe liam, maxim and keith wanted the song to sound like this to make that clear maybe?? i love it anyway
A diss track from Prodigy? If it's true, it's no wonder I didn't see it coming - I've never known them to do a track like that. I'd prefer maybe something that made Pendulum look like a joke...by doing what they do only WAY better instead of doing what they do mockingly. I can't imagine they'd waste a spot on the new album clowning on Pendulum and making themselves look silly to confused fans; and if they did, I'd expect them to be a little more upfront about it so we can all stop sh*tting our pants in fear of a whole album like this.
On a seperate rant, was the Pendulum track licensed? I'd imagine it was. I mean, I heard that track, I even like that track, but it's just a fun remix...it's no classic. It should have come and gone as maybe 2-3 passing plays on the floor in the jungle room of some USA massive and that's it.
It certainly shouldn't have propelled Pendulum to ditch Breakbeat Kaos and begin this LG-commercial/Vin Diesel movie theme song strategy of "Do The Most Obvious Thing To Attract Listeners". Hold Your Colour was awesome, In Silico was a huge piece of sh*t.
But enough about those dumbasses. They haven't been important enough for second chances, and they blew it. The Prodigy, on the other hand, they mean something. They are groundbreakers, they are one of the few "mainstream" faces of all electronic music (exposure-wise), and I don't want to see this as a sign that we can forget innovation in favor of a crowd of fist-pumping kids. I know you need to sell records and all, but don't make music to sell records - sell records because you make music.
Based on the other tracks I have heard, I think the album will be much better - I heard a rumor that "Warning" isn't going to be on it? Does anyone know what tracks are going to be on the album?
