First, your english is perfect...if you didn't say sorry, I would have thought it was native!
Yeah it's true that a lot of people 'try before they buy' with piracy...but I think more people 'try...and don't buy'.
I've pirated films and games, and I can't think of many times I've bought them after pirating..
It's true many people get to hear about games and things through others who have pirated, but I remember (barely!) a time where you heard about things through word of mouth by others who have bough it. In the 90's I played Metal Gear Solid after seeing 2 or 3 other people playing it, and I got into the Prodigy because (embarassing...) my mum liked them.
I want things to just go back a little bit...when more compaines made a lot of money, instead of one or two companies now making all the money.
As for avatars and live shows, I don't think ACTA would take them down...it's just a backup security thing. All laws on paper are more strict than when in real life, it's just to make sure. I think ACTA or SOPA would just focus on piracy websites.
I see your point, and although it is true I still think we would survive without piracy.
Yes it's true most of the people won't buy a game program or whatever if they already have it by pirating. But i think ACTA takes this too far. Imo there's no need for this, its the companies who need to reinvent themselfs. I mean look at the cinemas, in all these years the only interesting thing they did to cativate more people was the 3d. The quality of the screens in my opinion is still bad comparing to the evolution of the films graphics.
I think it's possible for companies to survive with piracy but they need to continue to evolve. They can't expect to only increase the quality of their product by a bit every year (like games) and people continue to buy it. What it's needed is to put the people on a position where, even if they can pirate that product, they will not be able to experience the full potential of the product without actually buying it.
