There's always gonna be some wanker who is being a douche bag,
"Dancing" in the "rave" or "techno" world does not and never did mean any preformed idea of dancing. Just moving about or jumping up and down or doing whatever we feel like is dancing. Sure some people can move their bodies in ways that take practice but that's their choice.
Forming a circle to mosh in though is and always was for metal heads. Most techno people at least in the earlier days have already gone through that phase and enjoy techno and a good metal gig.
But techno is and should be something different. It's where people aren't rude to each other and don't walk around with attitude and don't start forming mosh pits.
The unique thing about the non-mainstream days about techno is that the douche bag count was sometimes nil to very low. So low that they were easily seen and watched and guided by most at the party. I have seen douche bags be turned into the good person they are by this method more than once.
That takes a majority of real rave/techno/dance people though; when there's too many mainstreamers the whole thing is lost.
IMO, the Prodigy and Sasha and Digweed and others like them with such a massive position of power should have helped this but instead they (especially the DJs) seem to have just gone for the money and fame.
