They're electronic music for sure, but finding them in sub-category of electronic music is almost impossible. Anyone agree?

Cause you know that I can...

Finding any band in one sub-category is quite hard unless they are a very boring band. I'd say you couldn't really go any further than "Electronic Music".

They are thier own genre. Electronica yes, but each album has brought a new style which is more than you can say for nearly ANY band, group or dance act. Artists very rarely change style between albums.

And yes I agree, no sub-category exists for The Prodigy.

I can only vote "THEIR OWN" on this as The Prodigy are all and more of the rest, they are unique. A unique blend of whatever is concocted by the band at the time.

It's so easy to put them into the dance slot, but most music is "dance music" the prodigy are not just that they are more.

Beetween Dance Music and music that you can dance.
Prodigy will never be a dance music band, but everybody dance with prodigy.
You can play diesel power in a hip hop set
You can play breathe in a rock party(i did it once, and the floor amost cracked...)
You can put Girls in a eletro set...works brilliant..
I even heard the trance version of out of space(sorry, but skazi is not my cup of tea...)
Dance music,for me,Sugarbabes(they are cute!),spice girls,o-zone...
I hope that no ones get ofendend. But Prodigy and Basement Jaxx, for me,are the bands that you cannot label by genre. They work diferent, sounds diferents, have diferents diretions but they use the sam principle when it comes to make music.Get creative, they do their own thing and something that is edge,no one has done before...and they cannot be labeled as dance band.or tecnho...or what a hell they call it...Dance music artists,in general,is always coping one from another...they use the same formula, what works from britney, will works to hillary...and there it goes...
And I really hate when they call prodigy tecnho....that's is too much!
cheers!

They are thier own genre.

Unfortunately I'd have to disagree with you. Prodigy have done something that no-one has achieved with just the pure energy of some tracks but it doesn't mean it can be failed to be categorised into the vast tree of sub-genre's in the electronic music section.

Ok name the specific sub-genre and then tell me what other band plays that specific music.

Aswell as that each album could potentially be placed into a different sub-genre so in a sense they've created thier own sub-genres along the way. There's no group or band that has 4 albums with that evolution.

Oh dear, these days you just can't get away from people pidgeon holing music. It happened with drum and bass , first of all there was just good old fashioned dnb then you got hard step, tech step, intelligent, clown step aaaaggghhhhh!!!. Why do we have to give everything a name just so we can feel safe and part of a certain scene. At the end of the day prodigy tracks are what I see as one mans interpritation of the music he used to listen to when he was a kid. The influences is what is important here, not what genre you will find the prodigy under in HMV. Its all about the bouncy phat beats, the dirty bass lines and spine tingling riffs that keep you going back for more (IMO)
